No, really. What are you waiting for?
This Advent we are waiting for the birth of our savior, Lord Jesus Christ. The Church also leads us through the waiting of the second coming of Jesus and brings us to reflect on our own death. Sorry to take it there y’all, but we all know that one day we will pass away. Sometimes being reminded of this can give us the kick in the pants we need in order to truly start living the life we are called to live.
So……...What are you waiting for?
What is holding you back from being the person you were created to be?
James 4:14 says “You have no idea what your life will be like tomorrow. You are a puff of smoke that appears briefly and then disappears.”
We have no idea how many days we have left on this earth, so what are we waiting for?
Personally, I have felt convicted by this passage in a new way this Advent season. It has been challenging me to really reflect on my heart and my motives. Where am I putting God second in my life? Where am I living in fear of rejection in my life, instead of embracing the gifts God has given me for His glory?
How many times have you told yourself, “I’m too tired, or too scared, I will start (insert your own word here) tomorrow”? One too many times?? Yeah, me too. Let’s not live in fear of rejection or fear of failure. Jesus has given us hope. There is life after death, so let’s respond to His love by living a life looking towards heaven.
If our identity is rooted in Jesus Christ, we can live freely. We can live without fear that things won’t work out, because we know that no matter what, God will carry us through. Let’s take a good look at our hearts this Advent. What are you waiting for?
Happy Advent y’all!!
